OBJECTIVE

Hive in Five is played in rounds. Each round, you may only move each type of piece once. To win, use your final turn of the round to completely surround your queen.

Setup

Components:

Place all white pieces in a row or column on the edge of your playing surface.

Mix up the black pieces face down. Then randomly place them face up using the pattern below.

How to play

The game is played in rounds.

Each round, you may only move one black piece of each type per one white piece of that same type.

Use the white pieces to track your moves by flipping them face down whenever you move a black piece of the same type.

If you ever have a turn where you have face up white pieces but you cannot make any legal moves, remove the face up white pieces from the game. You will no longer be able to move pieces of those types and you will have fewer turns to take each round.

A round ends when all white tiles have been either turned face down or removed. If your final turn of the round results in your Queen being completely surrounded, you win! Otherwise, flip all remaining white pieces face up and begin the next round.

How to WIN

If your final turn of the round results in your Queen being completely surrounded, you win!
