For Dylan's eyes only!
If you are not playing Dylan...
STOP READING!
Dylan is an undercover time cop posing as a surfer living in a van down near the beach. You were sent to Oceanside in the summer of 1999 to investigate and eventually apprehend a time criminal known as “Puck.” You have very few memories about yourself beyond that.
This summer, you woke up inside of a van parked near the ocean. On the dashboard, there was a portable cassette player and a note saying, “push play.” The tape was an audio recording from yourself. You said:
Hi Dylan, it’s me, well… you. Anyway, welcome to the Time Police. As of this moment, you are our most important field agent of all time. Your mission, whether or not you choose to accept it, is to apprehend a time anarchist known as “Puck.” We believe this individual to be a member of a radical and violent organization known as Fairies Against Everyone, or The FAE, and they are intent on destroying the Ultimate Timeline.
The FAE seek to disrupt and/or prevent “Butterfly Events,” which are important events that define the Ultimate Timeline. We CANNOT allow that to happen! If any Butterfly Event were to not happen, the entire Ultimate Timeline could cease to exist. WE could cease to exist!
We have reason to believe that Puck will be at Andy’s party to prevent the Butterfly Event that is Andy being murdered. Your mission is to arrest Puck and ensure Andy is murdered at the end of the night.
In case of emergency, you are equipped with three standard-issued single-use time machines. The password for your time machines is your mother’s name. I know, you don’t remember it, but it’s Shawn.
Which brings me to my next point, your memories. At this point in the recording, you're realizing that you are missing a lot of your memories. That is because we erased them. And, we drastically altered your physical appearance. It’s standard Time Police Protocol and prevents field agents from conspiring with past versions of themselves. Doing so could result in a time paradox and/or the destruction of the Ultimate Timeline.
Anyway, your Mission Guide has all the details you need. Just remember one thing, if you want to protect the Ultimate Timeline, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: Bring at least three “Time Machines” to the party. These could be slap-on wrist bands, video game controllers, etc. (up to three other players will be trying to guess your password and acquire these time machines).
MISSION GUIDE
Objectives:
Identify and arrest the time anarchist known as “Puck.”
Ensure Andy is murdered at the end of the night.
Your Cover Story:
Pose as a recent high school graduate taking a gap year to live in your van and surf up and down the coast. Be cool and mysterious. Spend all summer surfing.
Puck:
Puck is a time traveler that uses movies to travel through time. Our intel suggests that Puck is a senior at Oceanside High School, and probably goes by a name other than Puck.
Two of their favorite movies are Point Break (1991) and The Butterfly Effect (2004). There is a DVD copy of each in the glove box of the van.
Butterfly Event:
We believe Andy will be stabbed in the heart with a silver cross at the end of the party and that this event is a Butterfly Event. Puck will be there and attempt to prevent that murder from happening. Do not allow Puck to disrupt the Butterfly Event. Andy must be murdered to ensure the safety of the Ultimate Timeline.
Contact Glitch. Glitch is a gamer that spends a lot of their time on “the web.” We have reason to believe Glitch has been chatting with someone named “Puck_1692” on the web. Ask Glitch if they’ve ever heard of someone named Puck, and, if so, do they think Puck is a time traveler.
TIME COP TIP: To avoid appearing like a cop, use Internet lingo like “surfing the web” and shorten words by typing “u” instead of “you.” Here is an example message, “hey Glitch, how has surfing the web been treating u? u run in 2 any1 named Puck recently? do u think Puck is a time traveler?”
If Andy contacts you, tell them no, you are not a cop and that even if you were, there is no rule that says you must truthfully answer that question (this is especially true if a cop is undercover). Tell Andy it is none of their business what you keep on your person and/or bring to their party.
